Social Housing Site - Sudbury

Design & Build development of six units for the local Housing Association consisting of timber frame construction to meet code 3 Sustainable homes, construction programme of 26 weeks delivered on time and within budget.

Town Centre Site - Ipswich

Contemporary development of 3 executive style apartments on a confined site. Poor ground conditions required the use of pile foundations and protection of the adjoining buildings. The confined site in the town centre demanded careful programming of the works, procurement and delivery of materials. The project was delivered on time and within budget.

Speculative Housing - Hadleigh

The development consisted of 22 speculative units of timber frame construction on a contaminated brown field site. Ground conditions necessitated the use of ground stabilisation techniques & pile & raft foundations. The programme was 24 months, the project was delivered on time and within budget.

Joseph Rank House Harlow

The conversion of an eleven storey office block into a mixed use development consisting of ground floor retail units with 132 one & two bed apartments above.The development comprised 80 market units & 52 social housing units. The project was on confined town centre site requiring extensive internal modification and demolition. The structure was a typical circa 1960's precast concrete clad building requiring substantial upgrading of thermal and sound properties to meet current legislation.

The project was Design and Build administered under a PPC 2000 (amended 2003) contract with a value of £7.5M & a contract period of 12 months. The project is due for completion in March 2011 on programme and within budget. The delivery of this fast track project within such a short timescale was achievable we believe due to the following:

  • Driven, well motivated and suitably qualified management team.
  • Effective co-ordination and management of the design and construction process.
  • Efficient use of Management Information Systems to improve co ordination and communication between all members of the project team.
  • Implementation of an effective Supply Chain management system.

Octavia View Wisbech

The sympathetic renovation and conversion of an ex school Grade 2 listed building. The aim of the scheme was to create a mixed use building for the local community and also a hostel for single homeless people. The scheme afforded many different facilities for the local community including:

The project was a high profile scheme within the town of Wisbech, with keen interest being shown in the scheme by the local community and English Heritage. The project was opened by the Mayor of Wisbech having been completed to budget and on time under a PPC 2000 (amended 2003) contract with a value of £1.3M & a contract period of 6 months.

  • A 32 bed hostel for single homeless people.
  • An educational facility for the whole community.
  • An elegant community space/function room that can seat 80 people.
  • A community café open to the public.
  • A community shop.
  • Rooms for hire by community groups for meetings.

East Lane Bawdsey

Speculative development of 12 domestic units on the Suffolk Heritage Coast within a conservation area. The project is due for completion in May 2011 again on time and within budget.

The site suffered from poor ground conditions and required specialist ground stabilisation techniques to provide a cost effective foundation design. The development was designed and constructed in a traditional manner to provide empathy with the surrounding area.
